What is the difference between LTL and FTL freight ?

LTL stands for “less than truckload” while FTL stands for “full truckload.” In other words, one LTL shipment contains shipments from different customers while one FTL shipment is fully filled with one customer’s freight or is dedicated only to that customer. The differences are listed below. LTL Your freights are shipped with other people’s freights You only pay for your portion of the shipment (cheaper) LTL shipments take more time (since it’s not just your freight) It has higher risk of damage or loss (switching trucks/transferred several times) FTL That shipment only contains your freight You have to pay for the entire shipment even if you don’t fill up the space(more expensive than LTL) Your shipment will be delivered faster(since it only deals with you) Less risk of damage or loss(one delivery without intermediary stages/stations) Hope this clears things up!
