What are the best practices to increase my supply chain knowledge ?

I always like to bring clarity when it comes to such a clear question.
First of all one must be in a position to know and understand what is supply chain management?
Supply chain management is a discipline which has not yet been embraced especially in developing countries but the demand for it is more than in developed countries. This is because of the need for Outsourcing which has given rise to new developments as far as the Supply chain management is concerned. This tell us that there is a lot of research to be done for full understanding and application of this niche.
Therefore, for one to become a Supply chain expert doesn't not only need to pursue a Degree and Masters of supply chain alone but also to dig deeper into research in order to be able to fully understand the entire chain processes. That means one must do thorough research and also gain intense experience through spending a lot of time in full undertaking of operations of different activities within the Supply chain system.
To be a competent Global Supply chain expert there is also need to have knowledge of both inbound and outbound Logistics. TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT. are integrated to deliver valuable Supply chain system.
Though experience is a very key factor but also you must be a holder of a strong degree or masters from a reputable university known of offering good courses of Supply chain management.
It will also add a lot of value to your career if you can take the following certification bodies.
  1. ASPIC - Under APICS you can obtain the following certifications;
  • CPIM Certified in Production and Inventory Management.
  • CSCP Certified Supply Chain Professional.
  • CLTD Certified Logistics and Transportation and Distribution.
2. ISM- Institute for Supply Chain Management.
3. CSCMP - Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.
